People who love the drug addict are sometimes their enablers; not intentionally, but out of guilt. They feel that it is their duty to make sure that the person does not beg or clean out the dumpster.

The drug addict prefers drugs over food and water. They neglect their bodies for the drugs. It means more to them to get the next hit than to find their next meal. It is a travesty, but that is indeed the case. Showing them love and care is what most faith based rehab organizations do and getting them in time will possibly save their lives.
